In document examination, a series of filters are used to check for alterations. The filter tray eliminates the need to constantly screw filters in and out of the front of the lens. This is time consuming and can be somewhat difficult when the camera is mounted on the copy stand. The filter tray allows the photographer to simply slip a filter in and out of place. Alignment stops make centering the filter automatic and quick.
The mirror makes it easier to see the back of the camera. When mounted on a copy stand, photographers are sometimes forced to stand on a stool just to see the LCD screen. The mirror eliminates this awkward and potentially dangerous practice.
